Dermal Fillers Q & A

What are dermal fillers?

Dermal fillers are a form of injectable for facial rejuvenation. More specifically, fillers can lend volume to areas of your face that have gradually lost subdermal fat over time. They can also add volume to areas that never had much in the first place.

With dermal fillers, you can target:

  • Thin lips
  • Asymmetrical lips
  • Nasolabial folds
  • Eyebrows
  • Undereye areas
  • Sunken cheeks
  • Hollow temples
  • Bony hands

In any case, you can use dermal fillers to improve your facial proportions or symmetry. Dr. Abu-Zeitoon plans and executes your treatment very carefully to ensure that your results look natural and compliment your organic facial features.

What are my options for dermal fillers?

Dr. Abu-Zeitoon has carefully chosen three of the leading dermal fillers in the industry to use for treatment at Chrysolite Aesthetics. Based on your medical history and your expectations for treatment, she might recommend:

Juvéderm®

Juvéderm products like Voluma™, Vollure™, and Volbella® contain hyaluronic acid, a component that keeps your joints lubricated and helps your cells retain water. There are specific Juvéderm products for various targeted areas like wrinkles, jowls, and your lips. If you don’t like the results, an enzyme called hyaluronidase is available to reverse the effects.

Restylane®

Like Juvéderm, Restylane’s main ingredient is hyaluronic acid. Specific products like Restylane Lyft, Silk, Refyne, and Defyne target specific wrinkles and other areas of your face. They can also add volume to your hands to make them appear less wrinkled or bony. You can reverse the effects with hyaluronidase if they don’t meet or exceed your expectations.

Radiesse®

Radiesse is a particularly thick filler that isn’t suitable for your lips. However, it does a great job of minimizing large or deep wrinkles. It isn’t a hyaluronic acid filler and instead uses calcium hydroxylapatite (CaHA) for long-lasting results. CaHA particles within the filler act as a scaffold for your collagen to build around, and the results last after the gel dissolves.

How long does it take to get dermal fillers?

Injectable dermal fillers are one of the fastest treatments available at Chrysolite Aesthetics. The injections typically take less than 30 minutes. When you leave the office, your results are apparent right away. Bruising and swelling after your treatment is only temporary.

How long do dermal fillers last?

The duration of the results of your dermal fillers varies depending on the brand of filler and the locations of the injections. Your body’s metabolism of the product also plays a role in determining how long your results last.

Dermal fillers like Juvéderm, Restylane, and Radiesse last from six months to two years. If you’re trying fillers for the first time and aren’t sure if you’ll like them, you might prefer an injectable that doesn't last as long.
