Wrinkles

Overview

Wrinkles are a natural part of aging. They are the lines and creases that occur in your skin. Wrinkles are not restricted to your face, but they are most prominent in sun-exposed skin, as the face, neck, hands. UV light breaks down the connective tissue (collagen and elastin fibers that lie within the dermis). Other factors that affect how bad your wrinkles are include your geneticssmoking history, and exposure to pollutants.

Repeated facial expressions such as squinting or smiling, leads to fine lines and wrinkles. Grooves form beneath the surface of the skin every time you use facial muscles. When you are young, your skin can bounce back from that groove easily due to the amount of elastin and collagen it preserves. But as we grow and lose that collagen and elastin reserve, this becomes harder and harder. Eventually, these creases become stable even without moving, and so, becoming a permanent feature on your face.

If your wrinkles bother you, we have several different options to help smoothen them out. But just like everything else, prevention is an essential key in keeping this problem under control.

How to Prevent wrinkles?

Wear sunscreen every day. Even when you are not planning to go out, and even when it’s not sunny! Make it part of your daily routine. Use professional products that are meant to reduce your wrinkles. Stay hydrated, eat a healthy diet, and don’t smoke.

How to treat wrinkles?

Neuromodulators! Like BotoxXeomin, and Dysport have done an amazing job over the years in preventing and treating wrinkles. They target one of the main causes of wrinkles. It’s very simple; by relaxing the underlying facial muscle, the overlying crease should not form!.

Anti-aging skin and wrinkles treatments are our goals at Chrysolite Aesthetics. We attest to reducing the appearance of your wrinkles while still allowing you to maintain facial expressions. Frozen is the name of an addictive movie, but we don’t believe this to be descriptive of your face! Learn more about Neuromodulators here.

When wrinkles become fixed, or when the use of a neuromodulator is not recommended due to contraindications like allergies, or simply due to personal preference (e.g actors), then you can resort to other methods to treat wrinkles.

Fillers.  There were many Different fillers that have been introduced to the United States over the past few years. While they might all seem the same, each one differs from the other in their usage. Some fillers are wonderful for lifting, while others are more perfect to instantly smoothen out wrinkles. – Learn more about fillers here.

PDO threads. These are highly dissolvable threads that are placed under the skin. Just like fillers, while some PDO threads can lift the skin, others are great for smoothening it and filling the grooves and creases of wrinkles!

Plasma (PRP). This is a natural way of fighting the aging process. Growth factors in PRP enhance the production of collagen and hyaluronic acid and help in the reduction of the appearance of wrinkles.

Microneedling. The more the injury, the more aggressive the healing process! Microneedling is the art of inducing controlled microchannel injuries to the skin using tiny sterile needles. This stimulates the internal healing process to produce more collagen. Thus helps in anti-aging skin and improving the appearance of wrinkles, scars, and pores.

Sublative. This is an FDA approved Radio-frequency treatment that stimulates collagen and elastin by inducing heat under the skin. This treatment enhances the general texture of the skin; hence improving the appearance of wrinkles, scar, pores, and stretch marks.

Facial Rejuvenation. Facial Rejuvenation techniques are also helpful in reducing the appearance of wrinkles by enhancing collagen formation.

But, with all these anti-aging skin treatments suggestions available… how would I know which one is best for me?

Your skin color, texture, and quality are unique and so should be your treatment. And while some anti-aging skin treatments might have worked for other people, these may harm your skin! So, it’s important to consult with an experienced healthcare professional to know which treatment is best for you.

At Chrysolite Aesthetics, our doctor personally tailors each treatment protocol to make sure it’s the best option for each client. The protocol commonly includes recommendations for primary and secondary prevention, in addition to the best methods for treatment, taking into consideration other skin problems that need a solution and could be targeted in the samtreatment!
